Licensing
Zonal uses a per-organization subscription license. One key covers your entire deployment — you do not need separate keys for each monitor or user.

Activating your license
Dashboard UI
- Open the Zonal dashboard and click License in the sidebar.
- Paste your key (
SPL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) into the field and click Activate. - The controller contacts the license server to verify and bind the key to this machine.
Environment variable (Docker / headless)
SPL_LICENSE_KEY=SPL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXSet this variable before starting the controller. On first start it activates automatically. No dashboard action is needed.
Machine binding
A license key is bound to the first machine that activates it. If you move the controller to a new server, the old machine must be deactivated first:
- On the old machine, go to License → Deactivate.
- Activate the key on the new machine normally.
If the old machine is no longer accessible, email [email protected]and we'll reset the binding manually.
Trial period
All new subscriptions include a 30-day free trial. Your card is not charged until the trial ends. You can cancel any time during the trial at no cost from the customer portal.
Renewals and billing
Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or annually, depending on your plan). You'll receive an invoice by email before each renewal. Manage your payment method, view invoices, or cancel from the customer portal — powered by Stripe.
Cancellation
Cancel any time from the customer portal. Your license remains active until the end of the current billing period, then is automatically revoked. Downtime during cancellation is limited to the moment the license expires — the dashboard shows a clear warning 7 days before expiry.

Can I use one key on multiple controllers?
The key is bound to one controller at a time. Pro plans allow up to 10 controllers — contact us to discuss multi-site deployments.
I lost my license key. How do I recover it?
Visit the customer portal, enter your purchase email, and we'll re-send your key immediately.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
The controller continues running for a 7-day grace period, then enters read-only mode — you can view historical data but live monitoring pauses until the subscription is renewed.
